Compaq Airlife 100 Smart-Book Official Specs Revealed [Compaq Airlife 100 Specs Revealed By HP, Include a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, 16GB SSD & Android]

HP unveiled the Compaq Airlife 100 smart-book back sometime in mid-February, and since then we have not heard all that much about it. That said, it does have a me wanting to get my hands on one. And while I still cannot find a solid release date, HP has recently revealed the official specs.

The news comes by way of the HP.com website, which means its pretty safe to assume that the Airlife 100 will launch with the following specs.

  • 10.1 inch backlit TFT resistive touchscreen display at 1024 x 600
  • 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 chipset
  • 512MB RAM
  • 512MB flash memory
  • 16GB SSD for internal storage (with 15GB available for the end user)
  • 3G
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g
  • Bluetooth
  • microUSB port
  • microSD card slot
  • Removable/rechargeable Li-Polymer battery

Additionally, the Airlife 100 smart-book will come running “Compaq touch experience” which is powered by Android. Though, it does not mention which version of Android the Compaq touch experience is based off of.

Other software features will (for the most part) be what you would expect in terms of a smartphone like netbook and include email, calendar, contacts, alarm clock, calculator, music player and weather app. The Airlife 100 was also noted as having a web browser, but more importantly a web browser that has Adobe Flash Lite support as well as tabbed browsing.

A few others include RoadSync Exchange which provides email, calendar and contact access and sync, NDrive navigation with GPS that comes pre-installed with regional maps and points of interest as well as the Quickoffice document handler.

In short, the Compaq Airlife 100 sounds quite a bit like a smartphone that was put into the shell of a netbook, hence the smart-book name. But given that, I am thinking this will make a pretty nice on the go tool. You have the ease of use that comes with a 10 inch display and decent sized keyboard as well as battery life that should be much improved over a regular netbook or notebook.
