Android Smartphones Are Made for Porn, Unless, Of Course, They Aren’t

Steve Jobs Says iPhone Is Not Made for Porn Whereas Android Smartphones Are; We Say All Gadgets Are Worthy of Porn & Vice-versa

From the beginning I’ll warn you I am not about to defend the existence of porn and encourage its usage in what follows. But I will definitely defend the customer’s right to do whatever he or she pleases in its own privacy with any gadget he or she chooses. Wait, that didn’t come out right, did it?

What I mean to say that no matter what the vision of manufacturers is when it comes to consumers using their smart devices, people will still find ways to crush those dreams. Yeah, we have great devices that surround us and help us through our daily chores but that doesn’t mean we use them for honorable pursuits only.

Such is the case of our smartphones which, no matter if you like/do it or not, can access porn at any time the owner chooses to do so. And as long as he or she does so in the privacy of their own home it should be ok with anyone.

Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs, has taken another hit at Android. This time around he associated Android and porn in the same phrase while defending the App Store and its policies in a recent email to a fan:

[...] we do believe we have a moral responsibility to keep porn off the iPhone. Folks who want porn can buy and [sic] Android phone.

Who died and made Apple the guardian of all that’s pure and righteous? At the same time who appointed Google the gatekeeper of porn?

Sure, as a future parent I am happy to know that companies will do whatever they can to limit the access of underage kids to adult content. As a tech-lover I know I’ll add an extra layer of protection, heck, maybe two, and make it even harder for my kids to go there in the first place but I won’t pretend I don’t want my kids to find ways to deceive my intentions and prove their smart enough to deal with various gadgets. Of course I’d want them to be smart enough to keep away from porn sites too since there are better things in life but I digress.

The point is that Apple can’t restrict the way we access the resources of the Internet while browsing the web from an iPhone, iPad or Mac even if they might control what apps go to the App Store and what apps get banned. Like them, no other company can protect us from all things evil.

But to say that Android, or any other mobile platform or company, is endorsing porn apps in any way is pretty damn low.

Im pretty sure that the Iphone has an app for suicide girls, while i wouldn’t classify it as a porn site, but its defiantly not a site i would look at with my preacher, and i would defiantly reprimand my kids for navigating to such a site. So maybe Jobs should check the app store before so hastily slandering the competition. Most of my friends Have apples strictly for the purpose of downloading porn (the whole mythical mac virus proof thing). So if anything apple by advertising the virus proofness is saying mac is the better choice for porn.
