HTC Tablet Rumor Arrives, Wants to Meet BlackBerry Tablet Rumor
Don’t get all too excited folks, as this is just another tablet-related rumor. Just earlier today we’ve seen the Dell Streak 7 and Streak 10 tablets and now we’re looking at a potential HTC Tablet which is expected to hit markets at some point in the second quarter of 2011.

Earlier this month we learned that RIM is also working on a BlackBerry tablet but this HTC-related rumor seems a lot more believable. HTC has plenty of experience in making hot touchscreen phones so making an HTC HD2 “on steroids” if you will, should be a lot easier for the company. RIM’s touchscreen handsets have been rather disappointing and maybe the company doesn’t have yet what it takes to come up with a true iPad competitor.
The HTC tablet came up during a press event in South Africa dedicated to the HTC Smart, Desire and Legend. According to local MD Quinton Leigh HTC is working on an Android-based tablet that will be able to offer you full HD 1080p video recording and 5.1 video recording. HTC plans to include these two features in its future smartphones so it would be only logical to assume that a potential Android tablet will also be able to offer HD video recording and 5.1 sound.
Looking at all these rumors we can’t but wonder if this HTC-made tablet isn’t the Google tablet we heard a few days ago about. Eric Schmidt, Google’s CEO already confirmed that a Google tablet is in the making but we don’t know who is going to build it for the search-based giant.
HTC has already made the Google Nexus One and plenty of other hot Android devices so designing a winning tablet for Google doesn’t sound that far-fetched either.
The HTC tablet is all the more interesting as it would definitely fight well against the iPad. And we already know that Apple is ready to do some patent-related fighting in courts in the following period of time so the introduction of an HTC slate would definitely be interesting.
Any ideas on what the HTC tablet is all about?
