New ASUS Matrix ROG Card Detailed
It was announced and sort of on display at the CeBIT trade show in Germany a few months ago, but now we’ve finally got pictures and full details on ASUS’ upcoming Matrix-series Radeon HD 5870 graphics card. This is a special edition of the Radeon HD 5870 card which carries special features to benefit the overclocking crowd.

The massive heatsink included on the new Radeon HD 5870 will be better than the one included on the stock ATI Radeon HD 5870 – to better facilitate overclocks. The cooler has five heatpipes coming off of the GPU. As I alluded to in above, this card was on display at CeBIT, but it didn’t have the heat sink on board.
As Fudzilla pointed out, the card does look like a bit like it would fit in ASUS’ ROG (Republic of Gamers) line of products, although it’s headed for their Matrix line, which I assume is their overclocking-friendly products. (Edit: Bob recognized the big ROG logo on the heatsink, looks like it IS in the ROG line)
It will have a 900MHz clockspeed on the GPU. It will have 2GB of GDDR5 memory which will haveĀ a speed of 4800MHz. It actually has a whopping 16 GDDR5 chips on the PCB board. The bottom of the PCB has a cooling board, aswell, to assist in keeping the card cool(er).
It also is sporting some voltage check points for those who don’t care for software overclocking. As for video ports, it has DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort. Conveniently located on the back of the card is the safe-boot button.
ASUS didn’t announce anything on pricing or availability for this card, unfortunately.
