Nokia N8 (N8-00) Flagship Smartphone Coming Only in July? [Nokia New Flagship Phone, the N8 / N8-00 Pushed Back from May to July]

It looks like companies are delaying the launch of their products today. After we’ve seen Apple quickly announce that the iPad is only coming in May in its international stores we now hear that Nokia has also pushed its N8 / N8-00 flagship device back to mid July.

Nokia N98 Leak 1

While we can understand that due to iPad’s popularity Apple was forced to delay the international launch date, the same thing isn’t valid for the N8. In fact, the new handset should come out as fast as possible since we all know that in July people will probably want to purchase the iPhone 4G or HTC EVO 4G, two hot phones coming out this June.

The N8 was supposed to arrive in May but according to a tipster coming all the way from O2 UK, the N8 is already on O2’s stock update. The carrier will probably start selling it in July when this smartphone will be ready to arrive.

We have no idea what caused the delay of this first Symbian^3 handset and Nokia hasn’t publicly commented on the matter yet.

The N8 is supposed to come with some very hot specs including a 12-megapixel camera capable of HD 720p video recording, 4-inch touchscreen display, HDMI connectivity and no QWRTY keyboard for a change. Most importantly the N8 seems to be the first Nokia handset ready to run the brand new Symbian^3 which will be the mobile platform of choice for future Nokia touchscreen devices.

It will be interesting to see if the N8 will be able to make an impression in the U.S. smartphone market which is dominated by RIM, Apple and Android. No pricing details have been leaked yet but we can expect the device to have a fairly competitive price when paired up against the upcoming iPhone 4G, HTC EVO 4G, and other hot smartphones about to be released.
