iPhone Opera Mini Now Available in the App Store

Apple Approves iPhone Opera Mini; Another Cold Day Announced in Hell

It took three weeks for Apple to inspect and pass judgment on the Opera Mini for iPhone. And Cupertino has checked the app and finally approved it. That’s right, folks, you can now replace Safari with what appears to be a much friendlier mobile browser, Opera Mini for iPhone.

Lars Boilesen, CEO of Opera Software said:

We are delighted to offer iPhone and iPod touch users a great browsing experience with the Opera Mini App. This app is another step toward Opera’s goal of bringing the Web to more people in more places.

Having tested it already I am still surprised Apple agreed to offer its customers an alternative to the default Safari browser. Opera Mini is already available in the App Store and users from various regions around the globe have already downloaded it. The app will become a hit product in the following days as it’s definitely an improvement when it comes to browsing the web on the iPhone.

What will Opera Mini bring to the iPhone you ask? Well here’s what the official iTunes page says about Opera Mini:

  • Speed Dial gets you to your favorite Web sites with a single tap.
  • An address field with auto-completion means you type less.
  • Tabs allow for multitasking with several Web pages.
  • Bookmarks can be easily managed and accessed.

The browser is very fast and you will notice how easy Opera Mini loads websites no matter how many pictures or graphics are present. Zooming is also available (it would be pretty difficult to actually read anything otherwise) and there’s multitouch support too so if you’ve used Safari you won’t have any problem using Opera Mini.

The default Opera Screen is also available and it will help you load your favorite pages even faster. Opera Mini will also help you save pages and, most importantly you can now find words on any page thanks to the “Find in Page” feature.

I suspect there’s a very cold day in Hell today since Apple did approve Opera Mini. What’s next Apple? Are you making Safari better too?
