Google Android Tablet Coming Soon, iPad Not Scared Yet
Just a few days ago we found a really crazy rumor around the web, RIM has apparently ordered an 8.9-inch BlackBerry tablet that would become official at some point in Q3/Q4 this year. Today we hear a more believable rumor which is now saying that a Google Android tablet is definitely coming soon.

It seems that the rumor comes straight from Eric Schimid’s friends. Google’s CEO told them apparently at a party in LA that the Android tablet is real. We’ve seen previous renders that suggested the Mountain View-based company was actually working on such a device but we’re yet to see any official confirmation. I wonder if Steve Jobs already knows about the product.
Google has been working in “stealth mode” with publishers when it comes to books, magazines and other content deals for a potential tablet. As you expect we don’t have all the details yet but I think it’s safe to say that Amazon’s and Apple’s partners that deliver content to the Kindle and the iPad will surely be interested in working with Google, and other companies as soon as possible.
The tablet business is getting more and more crowded as everyone out there is making one. But it’s just Apple that’s actually successfully selling one as we speak which is certainly working in Cupertino’s favor.
We already told you about Microsoft’s Courier and about the HP Slate which was almost made official. But Nokia is also working on a slate of its own and so are Acer, Dell,Lenovo and lots of others.
We’ve seen this happen before with the introduction of the iPhone. Apple launched it and everyone wanted to make something better. Now we have the iPad out there, and although we’ve had tablets for years now, everyone wants to make a better tablet than Apple. Even if you hate Apple you’d have to admit you need them around to inspire the competition.
Getting back to the point, tablet enthusiasts, would you go for the Android tablet from Google instead of the iPad?
