Hiton HT-960 Tablet Comes With HP Slate Matching Specs
As far as tablets go, there are a few hot products right now. The iPad has been, and still is getting more than its fair share of attention. We also have the HP Slate, which is expected to sell for $549 with a 1.6GHZ processor, 1GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and Windows 7. Then there are the others such as those coming from Archos as well as some that are even lesser know.

Take for example one of those that are even lesser known and we can talk about the HT-960 from Hiton. This tablet is currently sporting almost the same specs as the HP Slate, except for one notable difference — the price.
As for those specs, the Hiton HT-960 has an 8.9 inch touchscreen (1024 x 600) display, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, GMA 950 graphics and Windows XP. The big difference here is Windows XP as opposed to what the HP Slate will be running — Windows 7. The HT-960 will also be available with storage options ranging from 16GB up to 128GB’s. Other features include three USB 2.0 ports, a built-in card reader, built-in camera, headphone-out, microphone-in and the option to add built-in 3G support. The catch there is that the 3G support will add an extra $80 to the price tag.
In terms of price for the unit itself, at least for the 16GB storage capacity option, the Hiton HT-960 is currently selling for $418. Of course, that does come with an additional cost for shipping which is $69 to the US or Canada.
And, yes I realize there is most likely a big difference in the quality between an HP tablet and a Hiton tablet. But that said, there are other options available, and in that case it just comes down to buyer beware. Personally, I would rather pay the extra $100 bucks in this case and get the HP.
