New MacBook Pro Patent Shows Built-in Projector [Future Apple MacBook Pro Models to Offer Projectors Too? 2010 Intel Core MacBook Pro Still Missing In Action]

Well, Apple fans, I know you’re expecting us to tell you that tomorrow, otherwise a regular Tuesday, Apple will finally unveil those new Intel Core i5/i7 running MacBook Pros but there’s no sign that’s happening soon. What I can tell you for now is that future MacBook Pros will be able at some point later in time to offer you a built-in projector, not that you actually need that particular feature, do you?

From what we can see so far, Apple intends to place the pico projector in such a way that the actual user of the MacBook could still play with the laptop while offering you a presentation, quick slide-show or a video.

I am sure that you are already familiar with plenty of Apple patents that never saw the light of day. Like them, this MacBook Pro with built-in pico projector might not be actually manufactured for a few years.

Let’s not forget there are plenty of actual pico projectors out there much better suited for presentations on the go. Having a projector inside the laptop will propose some problems and you might find it a little more complicated to actually produce the presentation successfully while still working on the computer due to the actual location of the projector.

The projector could be also located on the side, which seems a far better placement for presentations, but again, we’re talking purely hypothetically here. Placing it on the side though is not a perfect idea either since the user will hardly be able to use the projector as a secondary display on those occasions where more screen real estate would be needed.

Of course there are other factors to consider when imagining such a device. First of all we have to think about battery life but Apple is probably already working on even better batteries for their future MacBook Pro lines. And then there’s always the hardware part to figure out and the way the laptop will actually relate to the projector.

Until Apple does come up with an out-of-the-box solution and decides to make such machines you will either have to buy a portable projector, or keep using the regular projector you currently employ for your current presentations.

In the mean time we’re still waiting here for the new MacBook Pros that are arriving this year.
