New iPhone (iPhone 4G), iPod touch & iPad Revealed by iPad Firmware

Apple to Make Two New iPhones, New iPod touch & New iPad In the Near Future?

So the iPad has started selling but that doesn’t mean we’re done talking about it especially since the tablet still has so many things to reveal. And it looks like the iPad is already talking about the future of Apple as its firmware has revealed not one but two new iPhone models, a new iPhone touch and a new iPad version.

Discovered in iPad file system the following monikers tell us there are new Apple products coming sooner or later: iPhone3,2, iPhone3,3, iPod4,1 and iProd2,1. So let’s see what we can make of them.

The iPad reveals two new iPhone models which could both hit the U.S. later this year. That’s right, I’m guessing that we’re speaking about a GSM and CDMA iPhone 4G models which could be unveiled later this summer. Naturally none of this can be confirmed so far so.

Previous iPhone models are referred internally as the iPhone 1,1 (original iPhone), iPhone 1,2 (iPhone 3G) and iPhone 2,1 (iPhone 3GS). Naturally the iPhone 3,2 and iPhone 3,3 should only be the next-generation iPhones scheduled to be unveiled in 2010. But whatever happened to the iPhone 3,1?

The fact that Apple is going to launch a new iPod touch, dubbed here as the iPod 4,1, doesn’t surprise us. What can we expect of it? Probably some sort of a camera addition and more storage space. But why would we want to still buy new iPod touches when there are iPads available now?

Last, but not least, the iProd 2,1 has been revealed. In case you didn’t already know it, that’s the code for the iPad and it looks like the next-generation iPad is in the works. Does that mean that you shouldn’t buy and iPad right now? No, it doesn’t! You can go ahead and buy yours right away if you really want it. I’m sure you’ll be able to resell it later next year when the new iPad will become available.

However, we are more interested in the iPhone 3,2 and 3,3 models and, if everything turns out to be true, summer 2010 could bring us not one but two brand new iPhone models. What do you think?

Cant wait for the new ipod touch it better be good. The Ipad is just a bigger ipod touch dont know what all the hipe is about.

    2. James says:

Ok first you dont know what you are talking about, the ipod Touch and iPhone have share basically the same operating system that being the iPhone OS, so what you are seeing here are the different operating system version, not different type of iPhones. 1,1 was the first generation, 2,1 was the the 3G phone, and 3,1 is the 3GS phone, we are currently on the 3.1.3 version of iPone OS, and developers get to try out 3.2 for the next update. if apple was to have a new phone it would create a new version 4.0????

    3. Chris Smith says:

@James, I just have to tell you that one of us isn’t as right as I am when it comes to iPhone generations and iPhone-related stuff. Internal Apple iPhone reference (iPhone 1,1, 1,2, 2,1) and iPhone OS versions are not related the way you clearly think they are. iPhone OS 3.1.3 is available on iPhone 3G (iPhone 1,2) & iPhone 3GS (iPhone 2,1).

iPhone OS 4.0 will therefore will be available to iPhone 3,2 & iPhone 3,3 which are not iPhone 3GS models but iPhone 4G (fourth-gen) phones. And it will also be available to iPhone 3GS (iPhone 2,1).

iPhone 4,1 is probably coming in 2011 or later, and it would be just the name used by Apple internally to refer to the device.

Omg just give us a release date and details on the phone…..no remors

    5. Chris Smith says:

@letosha, Yeah, I’m looking for them too. So far we know it’s coming June/July and that it will be much better than the current iPhone 3GS. “A major update” if I recall the quote correctly. More details are coming to you as soon as we have them.

      AHHH.
      Exciting!
My iPhone 3G contract ends in late August — really hoping they start releasing information about the new model soon. Don’t want to be stuck with buying a 3G or a 3GS…

    7. Triston says:

U asked why would anyone would still wanna buy a new model of the iPod touch when ipad is available? I would buy it because it’s more convenient- I can’t imagine seeing anyone riding on the subway flashing out the ipad or going to the club just to connect to wifi and check facebook or email- iPod touch is a little more safer and more descreet than the ipad when in public-

    8. Brad says:

iphone 3,1 is prob at&t while 3,2 could be t-mobile and 3,3 being verizon. Were still all forgetting that steve jobs puts his “dislike” of CDMA technology up there with flash. And for those of you who don’t know the iphone OS will NEVER support flash as long as apple as something else to push. Aka instead of flash we get pushed for HTML 5 and instead of CDMA tech we get pushed for GSM tech. While a Verizon iphone would be great I wouldn’t hold my breath for it or get my hopes up until we hear it from the man himself at WWDC. Which at this point is probably going to start turning into a geeks Superbowl in terms of hype behind it.

    9. Chris Smith says:

Yes, you have a valid point there and I must say I was thinking about that when writing the article. In my head there’s a different scenario though. If you’re getting an iPad then you could rely on your smartphone/featurephone to do all that quick email checking and music listening. And then use the iPad in safer locations. Overall you should even save some smartphone battery power since you will be using it mostly for calling while the iPad will handle everything else.
