Windows Anytime Upgrade Offers Start Next Week [Windows Anytime Upgrade Offer Will Allow Windows 7 Starter Users To Move To Windows 7 Professional For $50]
Windows 7 for the most part is a good operating system. In theory there is nothing wrong with it, but at the same time it is missing some features and does have some silly limitations. For example, Windows 7 Starter will not allow you to use some of the cooler looking features such as Aero Glass, it also does not offer support for those that want to use multiple monitors. Ok, so both of those likely will not be missed by many. However the kicker here is that you also cannot change your desktop wallpaper and that I am sure will bug many. That said, Windows 7 Starter is being sold on lots of computers including some lower priced desktops and notebooks as well as most netbooks.

On a positive note, users can always choose to upgrade and move beyond Windows 7 Starter. Except when you are dealing with what began as a lower priced computer, the upgrade price may seem over the top. For example, spend $300 on a netbook and you may not want to spend the required $79.99 to upgrade.
Understandable, and thankfully Microsoft will soon be offering some deals that will help lower the upgrade cost a little bit. Beginning on April 4 and running until July 3, 2010 customers will be able to take advantage of the Windows Anytime Upgrade offers and save some money.
Included in this offer will be the option to upgrade from Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Professional for $49.99 or the option to upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional for $79.99.
Just to give an idea of what you will be saving, $30 on the Starter to Premium offer and $10 on the Home Premium to Professional offer. But in the end, most people will be paying $50 for the privilege of changing their wallpaper and for some even the discounted rate may still seem high.
