Verizon Motorola Droid New Commercials Advertise Multitasking & the Android Market [“All Comers” & “Other Planets” Motorola Droid Ads Centered on Android Apps; Taking a Hit at the iPhone]

Earlier today we’ve seen that new iPhone 3GS “Commute” ad recently released by Apple and it looks like Verizon has also prepared a couple of new ads of its own. Entitled “All Comers” and “Other Planets” the new commercials are emphasizing the Motorola Droid’s multitasking capabilities, and, more importantly the large collection of apps available in the Android Market for the smartphone.

As you can clearly see in the videos below Verizon is taking a very clear hit at the iPhone and the way Apple is currently marketing it. We’re more than familiar with the “there’s an app for that” slogan which seems to accompany every new iPhone commercial and for a while the App Store was probably the only one to have an app for almost everything you could think off.

In the mean time most app stores out there have increased their apps inventory and the Android Market seems to stand out as the main App Store contender. That’s why Verizon is clearly suggesting that there’s a Droid app ready to meet all your needs.

But the most important statement that Verizon makes involves multitasking support. The “All Comers” ad shows how the Droid comes with a feature the iPhone doesn’t have. That’s multitasking of course, something customers will surely miss on the iPad coming out tomorrow too.

The irony of these commercials right here is that Verizon could, in just a few months, start selling a CDMA iPhone version. What will Big Red do when it comes to Droid vs iPhone ads then? What phone will Verizon wireless focus on once the enemy will not necessarily be the iPhone 3G/3GS/4G from AT&T anymore?

I’ll assume that once the iPhone hits Verizon, lots of its subscribers will want to get the handset, just as AT&T customers jumped on board the iPhone bandwagon when Apple launched it. Will then the Droid still be a hit smartphone?

Though I don’t have the Droid (i have it’s little bro, the Eris) my Dad has a Droid. He likes it. Don’t know about ever getting an iPhone, but I’m quite happy with Android phones. ;D
