Motorola Backflip Announced For Germany

Motorola Unveils Plans To Bring The Backflip To Germany, Will Be Sold Contract Free With Amazon & Mobilecom

The Motorola Backflip, which can also be know as the Android phone that AT&T did their best to ruin here in the US will be soon headed to Germany. The news comes by way of an official press release from Motorola who have stated that the Backflip would be available in April 2010 and sold contract free with Amazon.de and Mobilcom.

Getting right into the important part, the Motorola Backflip will be selling for 499 Euro (about $672 US). As for that date, nothing specific was given, just the general time of April.

As far as the features, for the most part those will remain the same as what many have already seen. Well, except for the parts that AT&T felt the need to change such as defaulting the search to Yahoo! as opposed to Google and restricting the ability to install apps that are not in the Android Market. Thanks AT&T, but moving on, here is what users can expect to find on the German version Backflip.

Network support includes the WCDMA 850/1900/2100 and GSM 850/900/1800/1900 bands. Hardware specs include a 3.1 inch (320 x480) touchscreen display, 3.5mm headphone jack, USB 2.0, Bluetooth 2.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, GPS, a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, microSD card slot and a battery life of up to 6 hours of talk time and 315 hours on standby. The disappointing part is that it comes running Android 1.5 and thus far we have not heard whether it will be upgradeable to OS 2.1. Otherwise, the Backflip will come with a 2GB microSD card and also features a full (an unique) folding QWERTY keyboard as well as a trackpad. Other details on the Backflip include that it will be running MOTOBLUR and an HTML browser.

Additionally, and as you would expect, it was noted that the Backflip will have all of the goodies from Google including Gmail, Google Maps, Google Talk and YouTube.
