Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac Screenshots Now Available
Microsoft Office for Mac is an oxymoron if you will. Two companies at war on multiple battlefields can offer users exactly what they need to go through a busy day at work. Macs are certainly reliable machines and Microsoft Office is probably the number one word editing application out there. That combo is what makes Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac so hot and we’ve got the first screenshots to prove it.

We have no idea if Redmond or Cupertino has leaked these screenshots but what matters is that consumers get a sneak peak at the upcoming Office version for Apple consumers.
And as you can clearly see, Microsoft Office 2011 looks a lot like a Mac application and it certainly is different from what we’re used to see on Windows powered machines. Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac will bring you the usual updates for Word, Excel and PowerPoint but it also surprise you with a brand new Outlook for Mac which comes with Exchange support. You will also find dedicated Address Book, Notes and Calendar apps which could convince you to switch from your Windows-based computer to a Mac.
Besides that new Outlook in Office 2011 for Mac we can’t help but notice the new Windows-like ribbon which will definitely come in handy when editing your latest documents.
This new user interface we talked about uses Cocoa now which makes Office 2011 for Mac look more like an application developed by Cupertino even if it’s coming from one of its main competitors.
Naturally Apple users will be able to choose between Microsoft’s Office 2011 and Apple’s iWork suite when it comes to their default documents editor. As for future iPad users they will be limited for now to using the new touch-friendly iWork version especially designed for the tablet.
There’s no telling when a Microsoft Office version for tablets will arrive but considering that Redmond is endorsing the HP Slate, a Windows 7 tablet coming later this year, we can expect touch-friendly Office versions to hit stores in the very near future.
