Palm Pre Plus & Pixi Plus Are Heading To Europe [GCF (Global Certification Forum) Approval Arrives For The Palm Pre Plus & Palm Pixi Plus]

It may have taken a little while for those in Europe to be able to get a Palm Pre, however that does not seem like it will be the case with the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus. The timing of this also follows up nicely on those earlier rumors suggesting that the Pre Plus was going to soon be available with O2.

So what do we have? Well, an approval — it seems that the Global Certification Forum (GFC) has recently given an approval for model numbers P101UEU and P121UEU, or what will be known as the Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus. Based on those model numbers it is suggested that the U is UMTS and the EU is for Europe, which is similar to the P101UNA and P121UNA that we saw with the FCC in the US. In that case, the U was also for UMTS and the NA was for North America. In short, the P101UEU and P121UEU are most likely the European releases.

As you would expect, the GFC did not spill any details about features, except for one which comes in terms of network support. Both of these models will come sporting support for quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and dualband UMTS/HSDPA on the 2100/900 MHz frequencies.

Now comes the time when we begin to guess about carriers, like I mentioned earlier, there has been rumblings about O2. And that would fit in nicely with the past deal on the non-plus version of the Pre where we saw it released with O2 in the Germany, Ireland and the UK among others.

That said, there has also been rumblings of how the Pre did not sell all that well, so maybe an exclusive with the same carrier is not the best idea. That and, the Pre Plus did go to another carrier than the regular Pre here in the US. So that seems to be a fitting move for Palm in that respect.
