HTC EVO 4G Available for Pre-order from Best Buy & Others
The HTC EVO 4G is definitely one of the hottest smartphones announced so far this year. Sure the HTC Desire, Google Nexus One and Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 are also impressive Android devices, but our eyes and ears have been captured, at least for the immediate present by Sprint’s first 4G phone, the EVO 4G, announced at CTIA 2010.

And the HTC EVO 4G is a spectacular device not because it’s 4G but because it has some more than decent specs which, in case you’re not familiar with them yet, I’ll be happy to repeat for you: 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD 8650 processor, 4.3-inch toucscreen display with multitouch, 8-megapixel camera with dual LED flash and HD video recording, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Digital Compass, GPS, 8GB microSD card, up to 32GB memory upgrade, HDMI connectivity, hotspot functionality, 3.5-mm headset jack, 3G & 4G (WiMAX) support, Android 2.1 and HTC Sense on top. What’s your favorite feature so far?
The word on the street right now is that the HTC EVO 4G will be available for pre-order in May and besides Sprint you’ll find it at Best Buy, Radio Shack and Walmart locations.
While we can’t confirm the date we most certainly can tell you that the information looks pretty solid. Best Buy, Radio Shack and Walmart are already selling some of the best selling smartphones out there so they will surely be interested in the HTC EVO 4G too.
There are no pricing details and actual arrival dates for the HTC EVO 4G but maybe Sprint should consider launching the Android device before Apple comes out with the iPhone 4G in June or July. The rumor says you’ll be able to pre-order it in Best Buy locations in May by buying a gift card which will be then exchanged for the phone once it becomes available. Do you have any inside information that could shed some more light on it?
The HTC EVO 4G could be the iPhone contender we’ve always wanted, and I’d say that even if there was no 4G support thanks to Sprint’s young WiMAX network. Like I said, it’s not all about actual 4G speeds. Sure that’s the future of telecommunications but it will be a while until everyone else can enjoy it. In the mean time we just want smarter phones, don’t we?
So what do you say, HTC, will you make a Supersonic version available only for 3G markets? Maybe a GSM HTC EVO 3G?
