NVIDIA Announces Another GPU Tech Conference [NVIDIA's GTC To Replace NVISION Show, Will Feature Technical Sessions and Tutorials For Developers]

Everybody loves a trade show, and NVIDIA has announced their plans for a new GPU conference that will take place this September in San Jose. It’ll be aptly named the “GPU Tech Conference” and will focus on industry professionals and training, rather than a consumer/press show like you’ll find at CES or E3.

The GPU Tech Conference will span from September 20th to 23rd, and it’ll have three summits, one for emerging companies, one for GPU developers and one for researchers. The show will consist of such things as interactive tutorials, technical sessions, technology previews and academic presentations.

Regarding the tech previews, this show last year is where NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang first showed off the Fermi card. So, it’s possible that this year we might get to see some new dual-Fermi card or some other new product being offered from NVIDIA. It’ll be several months after the GeForce 400 launch so it’s in the realm of possibility that NVIDIA will have gotten their yield issues solved, in time for a dual-Fermi card.

This conference definitely looks appealing to professionals in the field, the only shame is that considering the bad blood between ATI and NVIDIA (probably at an all-time high, I’d wager), ATI won’t be invited to the show. They probably could buy their own booth space – but won’t. Must be a disappointment for those in the development industry to only get one side of the story.

The price for admission to this show? $450, although academic and “emerging company” tickets are a bit cheaper.
