NVIDIA GF104 Details Slip [Rumored Specs On Other GeForce 400 Cards Out, 256 Shader Cores, Starting At €130]

NVIDIA’s next-gen (or current-gen, now) graphics cards, the Fermi-based GeForce 400 series of cards has finally been released after constant delays and setbacks. On this very happy Fermi day, German website 3dceter.org is reporting what they claim will be reference cards for the next set of GeForce 400 series cards. It will be based on the GF104 chip and will generally be mid-range and entry-level cards.

The three new cards in the series will be dubbed the GeForce GTS 450, GeForce GTS 440 and (you guessed it) GeForce GTS 430. These names sound a bit odd, but apparently, they’re just codenames at this point. The GTS 450 will have 256 shader cores and will use a 256-bit memory interface. The GTS 440 will be “20% slower” than the GTS 450, which would put it at about 204 shader cores. As for the entry-level GTS 430, it will have a meager 192 shader cores and just a 192-bit memory interface.

Each card will have a competing ATI card that it looks like NVIDIA is trying to best. The GTS 450 is supposed to be better than the Radeon HD 5830, while the GTS 440 will beat the Radeon HD 5770. The entry-level Radeon HD 430 should be about the same as the Radeon HD 5770.

The leaked pricing seems pretty competitive for these cards. The GTS 450 is reported to set you back €200 ($267), while the GTS 440 will cost you €160 ($214). As for the entry level GTS 430, it’s rumored price point is €130 ($174). Not bad for a DirectX 11 graphics card.

These cards are set to come out this June. The source says that after these, NVIDIA will add a few more mid-range cards before (hopefully) going back to the high-end with dual-Fermi graphics cards. This disappoints us that really would like such a card, but it makes sense from what we’ve heard regarding dual-Fermi graphics cards.
