Inbrics M1 MID Going 1GHz [Inbrics MID Now Coming With Android 2.1, 1GHz Processor, But Lost 3G, WiMax Somewhere]

We’ve covered the Inbrics M1 MID on and off here at TFTS for several months. New information on the device has surfaced, and thankfully, they’re upgrading the specs and confirming that the device will come with Android 2.1 onboard. Originally, the M1 was set to have a Cortex 800MHz CPU, but now it’ll come with a faster Samsung 1GHz ARM processor, which is reportedly similar to the Samsung S5PC100 chip in the iPhone 3GS.

There was no word on what flavor of Android the device will ship with, but now Inbrics has confirmed that it will ship with the latest Android 2.1 OS which gives you access to a bunch of new Google Apps, including Google Maps Navigation, which provides turn-by-turn directions (and yes, the M1 is set to have GPS functionality). It’ll also have a (hopefully) stunning 3.7-inch OLED screen. It’ll also have a slide-down QWERTY keyboard.

The folks at NetbookNews got their hands on the device and didn’t mention 3G or WiMax. The first reports of the Inbrics M1 said the device would ship with 3G, WiMax and WiFi connectivity, but now the 3G and WiMax have been omitted from the device’s tech specs. Inbrics is a VoIP provider in South Korea, so it makes sense they’d want to promote their own voice service via WiFi – but it’s odd they’d promise 3G and WiMax and then omit it later on.

Inbrics still plans to have  what they’re calling “3 Screen Plus” where the device can push your digital content to TVs, DVRs and other devices. Inbrics hopes to have the device out in late 2010/early 2011 and their target price is sub-$250. Not a bad price for what’s basically a Nexus One, sans the phone part.
