Asus Eee PC 1201T Now Available In The US
Not to be confused with the previously released Eee PC 1201N, Asus has made another Eee PC 1201 netbook available in the US market. The latest is the Eee PC 1201T and this one comes sporting a 1.6GHz AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 processor as opposed to the more commonly used Intel Atom processor.

As far as availability, the Eee PC 1201T can currently be found with online retailer Newegg and is priced at $389.99. And as a bonus that $389 price tag also comes along with free shipping. The interesting part with this particular netbook, which will also coincide with the low price, is that it ships sans operating system. Yup, its an OS free machine. In other words, you will have to install your own, and depending on your preference that could add up to a few extra bucks. That said, maybe this would be a good netbook for Jolicloud. A quick check of the compatibility chart for Jolicloud notes that they offer support for AMD processors.
But moving on to the rest of the features that you can expect to find on the Eee PC 1201T. To begin with you will have a 12.1 inch WXGA widescreen display with a resolution of 1366 x 768. Other features include 2GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics, a 0.3 megapixel webcam, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Ethernet, three USB ports, VGA-out, built in card reader, a lithium ion battery that is said to offer up to 6 hours of run time and the previously mentioned AMD Athlon Neo processor.
Other items worth mentioning is that the 1201T measures in at an overall size of 11.65 x 8.19 x 1.07-1.31 inches, weighs in at 3.2 pounds and comes with a chicklet style keyboard.
Of course, in addition to installing your favorite Linux system, this could also be a nice model for anyone that may have a spare Windows installation disc and product key laying around.
