Project Natal to Arrive on June 13 at E3 [Microsoft Confirms Project Natal for June 13 Release; PlayStation Move Not Invited to the Event]
Don’t you just love it when Microsoft delivers on its promises? This time around I am talking about Project Natal, Microsoft’s peripheral that will finally bring motion control gaming to an Xbox 360 near you. We already knew Project Natal will be available in stores by Christmas 2010, if not sooner, but now we also happen to know when Microsoft will unveil it.

According to a Microsoft official invitation Project Natal will be officially unveiled at the E3 gaming show which takes place in Los Angeles this June. The actual Project Natal announcement will be made on June 13 while a media briefing will follow on June 14.
While we can’t be but happy to hear that Microsoft is finally ready to unveil its Project Natal, we still would have liked it to be announced a lot earlier. Sony has already showed everyone its PlayStation Move and started an ads campaign in which it is already mocking both the Wii and Project Natal.
Although we have a little less than three months until we’ll get all the specs and features of Project Natal, we did hear today that Project Natal is smart enough in order to work even in tiny apartments. That’s obviously something we’d be interested in: how big does a room have to be in order for Project Natal’s sensors to work properly.
It appears that Natal will scan the room and determine its size. After that it will be able to detect movement within a range of up to 13 feet away. Not that bad considering that not all living-rooms are gigantic and we wouldn’t want to be forced to move out the apartment in order to play Project Natal games.
Now that we know pretty much all there is to know about PlayStation Move and Project Natal is coming in June we can only ask ourselves how Nintendo is going to fight Sony and Microsoft in this new motion control gaming environment.
