iPad Flash Dismissal Encourages HTML5 Growth [CBS Already Testing HTML5 for iPad; Adobe Enlists for Anger Management Sessions]
We really sympathize with you, Adobe, for the way Apple is treating your Flash lately. We mostly sympathize with ourselves since we’re the innocent bystanders here that will be affected by the lack of Flash on iPads in the months to come.

But the good news, and there are always good news in the tech world, is that companies prepared to offer content for the iPad are slowly moving to HTML5, a standard that Apple likes and wants to be used on all its machines.
While Adobe can’t possibly be happy about any of this, iPad users will appreciate that, over a long period of time, all sorts of online content providers will adapt to the iPad requirements.
One of them is CBS and it looks like the company has been spotted testing HTML5 specifically for the iPad. Mac fans watching CBS content online have noticed that the site is being updated to HTML5 which can only mean that CBS sees the iPad as a potential revenue stream.
iPad tags around videos have been seen on CBS’ website and the words “iPad-test-dan-config” have popped up when looking at the website through the iPad SDK Simulator.

We have no official statement from CBS yet although we really don’t need to be told that major content providers are going for HTML5 too. That was bound to happen sooner or later no matter if the iPad arrived or Apple did, or didn’t, appreciate Flash.
In case you’re still reluctant to get an iPad because of the whole Flash issue then you can either go for a tablet from the competition instead, like the HP Slate for example, or wait a while longer to see exactly how many websites out there are willing to go through complete HTML5 makeovers in order to become more iPad-friendly.
From a different point of view, you might not want the iPad because of its lack of true multitasking, but that’s also an issue we hope to be addressed by the upcoming iPhone OS 4.0.
