iPad eBook Prices Get Leaked Ahead of Launch?
We still have more than a week to go until the iPad will be shipped to your house or available in Apple stores. That means that we have a little more than a week until we’ll start receiving feedback from you guys concerning the iPad and the way it works. We’re particularly interested to see how you’ll find the iBook Store since it’s basically a very new store which Apple is pitching to all of its customers.

The reason we bring it up right now is that it looks like bestseller prices for the iBook Store have been leaked ahead of lunch and from what we can gather so far we can tell you that you’ll probably end up paying $9.99 for every bestseller out there.
In fact, most of those eBooks are priced at $9.99 right now with only 5 out of 32 titles having different prices. The highest priced title so far is the Poor Bitch Girl by Jackie Collins which is said to cost $12.99.
That’s basically what we expected eBooks for iPad to cost but prices could go even higher, all the way up to $14.99. Are publishers going to be happy with regular customers like you and I paying just $9.99 for their bestselling authors?

This is definitely just a leak that will need a proper confirmation before we can tell you more about how the whole iBook Store will work. It will be interesting though to see how the competition will adjust to Apple’s eBook asking prices, whatever these may be.
The main competitor of the iPad is naturally the Kindle but it’s not the only eBook reader that will be affected by Apple’s pricing schemes. As for us, the consumers, we can only hope that besides the titles in the iBook Store we’ll be able to pick whatever else we want from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and any other company that’s willing to push content to the iPad through dedicated apps.
Anyone care to confirm any of these?
