HTC HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Smartphone Official in the USA

T-Mobile USA Starts Selling the HTC HD2; Customers Want HTC EVO 4G & Windows Phone 7 Series Handsets

While CTIA 2010 is well underway in Las Vegas we’ll focus for a second on a mobile phone that has been made official last year by its creators but it will be sold in the USA only starting today. I am talking about the HTC HD2, a Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone that has been, without a doubt, the flagship phone of HTC for the last three months.

T-Mobile USA has the HTC HD2 in stores today, just as we told you a while ago, but unfortunately for the carrier it might prove to be a very difficult handset to pitch to informed consumers.

Three months ago, when the HTC HD2 was getting ready to hit major European markets, would have been a great time for T-Mo to sell it but they didn’t and preferred instead to wait for a March release. Whatever their reasons may have been, they will surely be annoyed by the fact that Windows Phone 7 Series will not be available for HTC HD2 users and double annoyed to see Sprint launch the HTC Supersonic now known as the HTC EVO 4G.

That particular Android handset is HTC’s current flagship device. And although it won’t hit stores for a while, it still shows us what the mobile phones of the future will look like. The handset has good enough specs and features to run Windows Phone 7 Series at some point in the immediate future, which is one more reason for which customers will not want to get themselves tied to a new 2-year contract with T-Mobile USA.

The carrier will be available for $199.99 when bundled with a new two-year Even More Plan. In case you can afford to spare the extra cash then you’ll be able to get it for $449.99 but you will still require an Even More Plus Plan to have it working on T-Mobile.

As soon as some hotter phone hits the market, not necessarily the EVO 4G, you will be able then to ditch the HTC HD2 and get that one, provided that you opt for the more expensive buying version.

Will you be buying an HTC HD2 anytime soon?

    1. Stan Rogers says:

I plan on upgrading to the HD2 sense this is the best T-Mobile has to offer but I WILL NOT extend my contract, that way I’ll be free to swap to something
better when it becomes available. With that being said I think it’s a nice phone even if not upgradeable or I won’t bother.
