Eye-Fi Adds Two New WiFi-Enabled SD Cards to its X2 Lineup
On Tuesday, Eye-Fi introduced the entry-level Connect X2 and the mid-range Explore X2, two new members of its recently announced X2 series of WiFi-enabled SD cards. The new X2 series of Eye-Fi cards features a blazing fast SD Flash controller powered by a 200 MHz ARM926 processor, 802.11n WiFi connectivity, and a new Endless memory feature which ensures your card always has available storage space by deleting your card’s contents following a successful wireless upload.

Eye-Fi debuted the new X2 line of WiFi-enabled SD cards earlier this year at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show where it introduced the Pro X2, a professional level card that offers lifetime geo-tagging and one year of free WiFi hotspot connectivity for on-the-go media uploads. The Pro X2 is available now in an 8GB capacity and retails for $149.99 USD.
The Eye-Fi Connect X2 is the beginners Eye-Fi card, sporting an entry level price of $49.99 USD for 4GB of storage space. The Connect X2 is a Class 6 card with fast read and write speeds and offers WiFi 802.11n connectivity, and Endless memory so your SD card is never full. As with all Eye-Fi cards, the Connect X2 allows you to upload your video and images to twenty five different online sharing websites including YouTube, Flickr, Picasa, Facebook, and more.
The Eye-Fi Explore X2 is a mid-level Eye-Fi card offering 8Gb of storage space, Class 6 read/write speeds, 802.11n connectivity, Endless memory, lifetime geo-tagging, and one year of free WiFi Hotspot access. When it launches, the Explore X2 is expected to retail for $99.99 USD and will be available from retailers such as Best Buy, Office Depot, Amazon.com, Adorama, B&H Photo, and J&R.
In addition to two new Eye-Fi cards for your buying pleasure, Eye-Fi also announced that it is expanding its nationwide network of WiFi Hotpsots. Starting March 31st, Eye-Fi owners with an active Hotspot access service plan can now upload their photos and videos at over 21,000 locations in the U.S. including Starbucks and BP gas stations.
