Sony Vaio E-Series Gains 14″ & 17″ Blu-ray Notebooks [New Sony Vaio VPC-EA1Z1E & Vaio VPC-EC1S1 Pack Core i5 & i7 CPUs, BD Drives, ATI Graphics]
Sony originally announced the Vaio E-Series line of notebooks back in February, and as of today that have added two new models. The first is a 14-incher and the second is more of desktop replacement with a 17-inch display. The notebooks carry the model numbers of VPC-EA1Z1E and VPC-EC1S1E for the 14 and 17 respectively.

In terms of features, the 14-inch model will offer a 1600 x 900 resolution and come with a 2.13GHz Intel Core i3 processor. The 17.3-inch model will have a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and be powered by a 2.26GHz Intel Core i5 processor. As for shared features, both models will include Blu-ray optical drives, 4GB of RAM, 500GB of storage, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, Dolby Home Theater v3, HDMI out, three USB ports, a built-in webcam and come running Windows 7 Home Premium.
Other differences in the two models will be noticed in the graphics and the exterior colors. The 14-inch model will have ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5145 graphics and come in black or white as well as a full range of neon colors including pink, blue and lime green. On the other hand, the 17-inch model will have ATI Mobility Radeon 5650 graphics and be available in either matte black or matte white.
Both models will be available in the UK as of May and later move to a worldwide availability. At this time, the worldwide availability has not been given a time frame. Also left out was the pricing.
In regards to the other models in the E-Series lineup, that was a 15.5-incher that offers a resolution of 1366 x 768, an Intel Core i5 processor, up to 8GB of RAM, up to 500GB of storage, built-in webcam, built-in card reader, ExpressCard slot and is available in gunmetal black, lava black and coconut white as well as a few brighter shades including green, blue and pink. The 15.5-inch Vaio E-Series notebook is currently available and retailing with a starting price of $699.99.
