By way of a brief heads up for those of you packing the HTC Hero smartphone in Europe we can advise that, according to a leak, you should see your HTC Hero gaining an update to Android 2.1 sometime in May, with various dates being purportedly scheduled to offer the Android OS update across Euro zone networks (as detailed below).

News concerning the imminent apparent availability of the Android 2.1 for the HTC Hero comes courtesy of a member of the xda-developers going by the name of yrreP who states that they received the schedule of the Android 2.1 update to the HTC Hero/T-Mobile G2 via an email at work.

Of course, at this juncture, the details below, as provided by yrreP, are wholly unconfirmed be we have no reason to believe that these details are kosher and we’re far from alone in this respect.
