Samsung Windows Phone 7 Handset Shown at Micrsoft MIX10 Also Known as Samsung i8910 Omnia HD
Thanks to Microsoft’s MIX10 conference held this week in Las Vegas we now officially know that the HTC HD2 will not get Windows Phone 7 since it doesn’t correspond with Microsoft’s hardware requirements for the new mobile platform.

We also heard that a certain HTC HD3 is in the making, but such a phone, although it is said to run Windows Phone 7 when it will be launched, might not be the one we showed you the other day. There’s at least a simple dead giveaway that suggests the rumor is fake. The HTC HD3 in question is said to support up to 32GB memory upgrades when in fact Microsoft apparently doesn’t want to support removable storage solutions at all.
Why am I still talking about the HTC HD2 when we already know it’s not going to run WP7S al all? Well there’s a certain Samsung Omnia HD smartphone that might get the upgrade. Does that sound fair, HTC HD2 lovers?
The Samsung in question, codenamed i8910 HD, is exactly the one we’ve seen a couple of days ago at Microsoft MIX10. That’s right, Samsung confirmed the fact that the prototype we’ve seen was in fact an Omnia HD that was actually running Windows Phone 7.

So will Samsung’s first Windows Phone 7 Series smartphone be actually the Omnia HD? Or an upgraded, but very similar, really, Omnia HD2?
Samsung doesn’t know yet if current Samsung Omnia HD users will be able to upgrade to Windows Phone 7. Does it feel like deja voodoo all over again? We’ve seen the same talk around the HTC HD2 only the difference was that the HTC HD2 was way hotter than the Samsung Omnia HD.
So let’s hear the angry mobs then! Will you ditch your HTC HD2 as soon as WP7S becomes available or will you wait for a custom Windows Phone 7 ROM to emerge ready to be installed on the HD2?
What about you Omnia HD fans? Are you interested in this potential upgrade?
