iPad Accessories Not to Ship as Initially Planned

The iPad pre-order process is already an unconfirmed success, but what about those iPad accessories which we could/couldn’t do without? Although they were expected to be shipping to your door almost immediately after the iPad arrives it turns out that not all the accessories available in the Apple store will be coming to you that fast.

In fact it appears that two potential popular accessories like the iPad keyboard dock and the USB power adapter will only be available at some point in May without ship actual dates available so far. What happened there, Cupertino? Are there any production delays we should know about?

Other accessories like the iPad dock and the dock connector to VGA adapter are ready to be ordered as they will be available on April 3 as scheduled. They both cost an extra $29 so make sure you budget is ready to take more iPad-related hits.

The iPad soft case should be available on April 3 but now we hear it will only arrive in mid-April. That’s not necessarily bad news since third-party retailers are surely going to make all the cases you can think of to protect your iPad.

All in all the fact that Apple has decided to delay the iPad keyboard dock, regularly priced at $69, the USB power adapter, priced at $29 and the iPad case, priced at $39, will not exactly affect us. You might not require all these accessories in the first place and you’ll be able to get some of them at a later point this year. In fact you’d be better off not buying them in the first place, at least not until you have decided whether you love the iPad so much it absolutely needs more accessories or that you want to immediately resell it.

On a totally different note it looks like the iPad sold better in the first weekend than the Google Nexus One, which wants to be a true iPhone and maybe even iPad competitor, sold in the first 74 days.
