We’ve seen a fair few universal remote add-ons for the iPhone and iPod Touch (New Potato Technologies’ FLIPR, L5 Technology’s L5 Remote and, of course, the Power A iPhone Universal Remote Case being the most notable) and now we have another in the form of the i-Got Control Universal Remote which will work with the iPhone, iPod Touch and, when you eventually get it (assuming you ever wanted one), the Apple iPad tablet, thanks to being iPad-Ready.

The i-Got Control iPhone, iPod Touch & iPad Universal Remote, which comes in the form of both hardware, namely a IRB1 accessory which connects to your device’s 30-pin dock connector, and a free i-Got-Control App, which is set to be offered via the App Store, is said to come complete with over 40,000 IR codes for consumer electronic devices already stored and, should you have a device that isn’t in the App’s database, there’s no need to worry as you’ll have the option of adding it thanks to ‘i-Got-Control’s user-friendly learning capabilities’. Sounds very reassuring, doesn’t it?

“i-Got-Control empowers users to operate A/V devices, as well as many other pieces of IR equipment, including lighting and HVAC systems, no matter where they are,” said Doug Schwartz, president of i-Got-it.com. “It also features an extensive built-in IR library, which means that – unlike most remote controls and other similar products in the marketplace – i-Got-Control does not require ‘learning,’ making it simple and easy to set up and use.”
Billed as arriving on March 18th, the i-Got Control iPhone, iPod Touch & iPad Universal Remote is priced in the same ball park as the aforementioned other devices, coming in at some $70, so you’ll need to do your homework before selecting which you want to opt for. That said, the i-Got Control looks like a pretty safe bet – but I would have liked to see the company listing exactly what external equipment this device can control out of the box.
Yes, I know you can program it to (quote) ‘control virtually any device’ but virtually any isn’t all, is it? A listing of devices it cannot control, if that’s easier, would suffice.
