Huawei SmaKit S7 Tablet Revealed

Out Of Shenzhen Comes Another Android MID Tablet With 7-inch Display, HDMI, 3G, 720p Video, Flash Support

Every electronics manufacturer has got their sights on the iPad lately, it seems, and now, out of China’s Shenzhen region comes a promising looking Android MID tablet that could be a serious iPad competitor. It’s call the SmaKit S7 and the screen measures in at 7-inches (800 x 400 resolution). It’ll have 2 USB ports, an HDMI port, expandable memory via a SD card slot and a 3G sim slot.

It’ll also be capable of 720p playback and Flash support (Flash on a tablet… what a novel idea). The tablet will unfortunately ship with Android 1.6 but Huawei supposedly hasn’t closed the door on an upgrade to Android 2.1 in the future.

Huawei reportedly has worked on the software UI for the device, and reports have been positive. The UI is “snappy” and the home run shortcut keys are handy, people who’ve gotten their paws on the device report. The “front page” of the UI appears to be able to support widget apps which looks really handy (reminds me a bit of the Litl Webbook). The tablet itself will have a kickstand on the back to allow it to be propped up.

The device will also have WiFi support, apparently, although it wasn’t listed in the official specs, Huawei reported that the device will “integrate [the] home solution”.

The device is set to come out “this summer” with no word on pricing. How much would you pay for this device?
