New iPad Tablet Enemies Arrive from Samsung & Marvell [Samsung’s Slate to Be Called the Q1 & Marvell Is Working on 10-Inch Android Tablet]
Apple has started to successfully sell the iPad last week and although the buzz around it seems to be dimming, don’t expect to see us talk less about tablets here. Because the iPad will have a lot of competition this year as every computer manufacturer out there will try to do its best in order to properly fight against it and possibly beat it.

Today we got word of two upcoming slates, one from Samsung and one from Marvell and we can’t but be interested in both of them. Samsung’s tablet is rumored to be working on a Q1 follower which is supposed to be a lot better than the iPad. According to Philip Newton, the director of Samsung Australia’s IT division, the Samsung slate is coming at some point in the second half of the year and it will offer “PC-grade processing power and connectivity.” As you can expect, we have no specs and features at this time so it will be interesting to see what Samsung will leak/reveal in the following months.
Marvell on the other hand might pitch us an Android-based 10-inch tablet. Said device has apparently been seen in the flesh at the Future of Publishing Summit. Unlike the Samsung slate, this tablet did reveal some specs and features like an ARM Armada processor, 1080p video support and only Android 1.6 under the hood. Not a lot to go on here but definitely enough to keep us interested in future Marvel tablets. But we’ll at least hope for Android 2.1 or better. Or, why not, even Chrome OS? What do you say, Marvell?

Rest assured folks that more tablets are coming and one of them might really be the one you were looking for. You might not like the Samsung slate or you might not want an Android-based tablet from Marvell. But if the iPad is definitely not for you then you’ll definitely have something to choose from later this year. Maybe a JooJoo?
