Plastic Logic QUE E-Reader Delayed Until Mid-Summer
Plastic Logic CEO Richard Archuleta has emailed pre-order customers of the Plastic Logic QUE ProReader device, announcing that its mid-April release will not be met. Instead, the QUE e-reader will undergo a series of enhancements that will push back its release to an unspecified date “this summer”.

The Plastic Logic QUE ProReader is a flexible, large-format e-book reader with a 10.7-inch touchscreen display that interfaces with the Barnes and Noble e-book store. The device was made official at CES 2010, ushering in pre-orders that expected a mid-April release. While Plastic Logic CEO Richard Archuleta didn’t state competitive factors in the company’s needs to enhance the QUE device, it is easy to assume that the release of the Apple iPad and the refined JooJoo tablet took the proverbial wind out of sails at Plastic Logic. During this delay, Plastic Logic hopes to “fine-tune the features and enhance the overall product experience”, so it is safe to assume that new features will arrive to improve its competitive offering against the iPad, JooJoo and other e-reader/tablet devices.
If you were amongst the Plastic Logic QUE ProReader pre-order customers, fret not. Your credit card charges have been released, freeing up a pretty penny to re-evaluate where you want to spend your e-reader/tablet money. While the iPad may be the obvious choice, this writer can’t wait to see that JooJoo in action with its new UI and control functionality. Otherwise, of course, you can wait it out and see what tricks Plastic Logic has up its sleeve for the upcoming summer release.
