Novothink Solar Surge iPhone/iPod Case Now Shipping
After an initial revealing last September, Novothink has begun shipping their solar-powered battery pack cases for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The Novothink Solar Surge cases can add up to 8 hours of talk time for the iPhone, with up to 20 hours of audio playback time for the iPod touch.

The Novothink Solar Surge is intended not just as a solar power generator, but as a hard case to protect your iPhone or iPod Touch. It features a metallic, non-slip case with a front-side lip that’ll help prevent scuffing should the unit hit the ground. The charger element of the Solar Surge will generate electricity using a photovoltaic solar cell, storing this electricity in a lithium-ion polymer battery. For the iPhone 3G or 3GS, Solar Surge will add four hours of talk time per charge, with an additional 30 minutes of talk time for every 30 minutes of charge. A 2G iPhone will receive 8 hours of talk time per charge, and all iPhone versions will benefit from 240 hours on standby from the Solar Surge’s battery. Last, internet from 3G will receive 4 hours of use from this battery, while WiFi connections can be powered for six hours.
The new Novothink Solar Surge iPhone/iPod case and chargers are shipping now. The iPhone 3G/3GS model will be available for $79.95 and the iPod Touch (2nd Gen) model will sell for $69.95.
