iPhone 4G to Finally Get Multitasking This Summer Thanks to New iPhone OS 4.0
We’ve been looking into various iPhone 4G-related rumors lately and we can only expect to be hit by more the closer get to the next-gen iPhone launch which should occur in June/July 2010. While we can’t expect Apple, or any of its partners to actually confirm any of these news we’re hearing, we still have to look at pretty much anything that comes our way. Just the other day we were talking about new gestures support found in iPhone OS 3.2 and today we have more details about upcoming iPhone OS versions.

iPhone OS 3.2 is iPad-oriented and although it can offer us details about the future of iPhone 4G, we are really waiting for iPhone OS 4.0 to be announced and reveal all the hot stuff regarding the next-gen iPhone.
One of the most expected updates which iPhone 4.0 is rumored to bring is multitasking. That has been the iPhone’s Achile’s heel as most users complained about its inability to truly run multiple apps at once. But it’s not just the new firmware that has to support multitasking. We expect Apple to launch a phone with a faster processor, more RAM and better battery life which are all features needed to actually support the whole multitasking process. And yes, we expect the iPad to also get multitasking support once the iPhone receives it.
Apple is rumored to have new multitasking capabilities in the works and they should be unleashed once iPhone OS 4.0 is good and ready to launch. That must also mean that Apple will change the whole user interface of the device since now we’ll have to be able to switch between apps running in the background and manage them according to our needs.
The iPhone 4G is rumored to be launched this summer but we don’t have an exact launch date. Some people say Apple will launch it in June while others say July but I think it’s safe to say we won’t get iPhone OS 4.0 anytime soon. So what’s your take on all this, iPhone fans? Will you replace your current iPhone with the new model if Apple will finally enable multitasking support?
Incidentally, if anyone can confirm iPhone multitasking, then, by all means, do try to convince us in that regard but we will warn you that we’ll take everything with a grain or two of salt.
