HTC HD2 Release Date Unofficially Confirmed for March 24
By now, regular TFTS readers may already know that T-Mobile is going to have a special event on March 16th where they’ll take the wraps off the new HTC HD2. You should also know that the stylish smartphone comes packed with Windows Mobile 6.5 and that it’s probably the last phone with Windows Mobile “Classic” to ever make an impression on us. The only thing we were not sure up until now was an official release date, although we heard rumors that it could be launched on March 24 and if it’s getting Microsoft’s latest mobile OS.

According to a “very close T-Mobile source” talking to the folks from Laptop Magazine (check the link at the bottom), HTC HD2 will indeed be available starting March 24 and if we had any doubts it gets Windows Phone 7, we’re now being told/confirmed that it won’t.
As previously reported, the new HTC HD2 will be available on T-Mobile for $199 if you put your signature on a two year contract, or $499 off-contract.
So do you guys think it’s worthy to grab the HTC HD2 knowing that it won’t get Windows Phone 7 OS? Would it make you feel like living in the past?

The HTC HD2 was a decent handset, let down by its obsolete Windows Mobile (classic) operating system, which has now been superseded by Microsoft’s coming WP7S phone platform.
HTC has better models that run Android, with similar specifications (though most of the up-market Android models come with an AMOLED screen, rather than the older TFT screen of the HD2.)
Well the phone has been out for a week now, what are people’s thoughts? I love it, old Windows Mobile and all. Sense does a great job of controlling the UI, too bad HTC can’t use Sense on WP7 going forward.
