Codemasters F1 2010 Video Game Coming Soon
It’s been forever since there’s been a decent Formula One racing game. The racing game gurus at Codemasters took over the license in 2008 but have yet to release a F1 game… until now. A press release from them today details that a new game, named simply F1 2010, is coming in September and will cover the Formula One 2010 championship season.

While it is a bit… annoying that the game will come out when the 2010 F1 season will be already 75% completed, racing fans should just be grateful they’re getting any Formula One game at all. The last serious (not counting last year’s dreadful Wii F1 game) game was ‘Formula One Championship Edition’ which came out for the PlayStation 3 in 2007. The last game on the PC? That goes back to 2002 with the aptly named ‘F1 2002′.
Upcoming the upcoming F1 2010 game will be powered by the Codemaster’s EGO engine, the same software that has powered Codemaster’s DiRT and GiRD racing games. While the EGO engine has a long pedigree, Codemasters is further developing the EGO engine to more accurately render the 200MPH+ speeds that Formula One cars constantly reach. As you can see from the press shots they released, it looks pretty amazing too.
As mentioned earlier, it’ll be current to the 2010 championship season, so God Michael Schumacher will be on the Mercedes team and the new South Korean circuit will be added. The game will support dynamic weather, a realistic championship mode and an advanced damage modeling system. It’s coming out sometime this September for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Just some minor corrections:
The last F1 game for the PC was F1 Challenge ’99-’02, released in 2003 by EA.
This is not Codemasters’ first F1 game–they have already made F1 2009 for the iPhone, Wii, and PSP.
Cheers!

@Ian,
Yes, I acknowledged F1 2009 in the article. It was horrible, so I think it would be better for all involved if we just forgot it.
