Samsung Galaxy Spica Availability on Rogers Canada Confirmed [Galaxy Spica With 3.2" AMOLED Touchscreen, Supposedly Getting Android 2.1 Soon]
As expected, Rogers Canada is the latest carrier to confirm that they’ll bring the Samsung Galaxy Spica to their customers. The fourth Android device on the company’s network, Galaxy Spica features a 800MHz processor under the hood, a 3.2 megapixel camera (unlike the original Galaxy that had a 5 megapixel camera) and a 3.2-inch AMOLED HVGA capacitive touchscreen display to get the eyes with.

While you may know that already, Samsung Galaxy Spica also brings 3.6Mbps HSDPA/UMTS support, GPS and WiFi connectivity to the table and has a powerful battery that promises up to 7 hours of talk time and 10 days of standby. But there’s a tiny drawback as we’re hearing the handset will be launched with an older version of Google’s mobile OS, Android 1.6. While we’re being assure by the folks from BGR (who are supposedly citing an official rep from Rogers), an update to Android 2.1 is in the works but there’s no timeframe.
Rogers will sell you the Samsung Galaxy Spica for $79.99 if you sign your name on a three-year contract with the Canadian carrier.
