Motorola QUENCH Coming To North America?
Rogers customers in Canada got a gift today, and it’s not that RedBoard website. Motorola announced their intention sometime ago to bring three new Android handsets to each of the three big Canadian cell providers (Telus, Bell and Rogers). While Telus and Bell had their Android devices already revealed – speculation has the Motorola QUENCH coming to Canada with Rogers.

The Motorola QUENCH was announced at the Mobile World Congress last month, and will be hitting the United States as the Motorola CLIQ XT, but will be sold in Canada as the Motorola QUENCH. No reason on why they’re going with the European name instead of the US name (I’m sure there’s a joke about nobody liking America here somewhere…)
When Motorola CEO Sainjay Jha unveiled the CLIQ XT/QUENCH at MWC, he described it as “showcasing Motorola’s design heritage by offering a compelling differentiation from the traditional Android experience, giving people an easier way to have more messaging, more Web and more music.”
To give a brief rundown of the CLIQ XT/QUENCH and its features, it was leaked before its reveal as the Zeppelin. It features a 3.1-inch screen, no keyboard, and a 7.2Mbps HSDPA modem. Unlike a lot of new Motorola products, it will come with Android 1.5 for now. MOTOBLUR, of course, will be included, as will things like GPS and a 5-megapixel camera.
The Motorola CLIQ XT is coming to the US in March on T-Mobile. It’s going to Europe as the QUENCH sometime later in the year.
