HTC HD2 Coming to T-Mobile on March 16; In Stores on March 24
The HTC HD2 is the last Windows Mobile 6.5 phone that’s going to impress us. Windows Mobile 6.5 will not die out but I don’t really see manufacturers try to make a better phone than the HD2 and still use WinMo 6.5 to power it up. And U.S. customers will be able to buy this last hot Windows Phone “Classic” device starting on March 24. The prices? You already have! The carrier? T-Mobile!

T-Mobile has scheduled a special event on March 16 in which it will unveil the device. Those interested are invited to “experience” the HTC HD2, “a larger than life entertainment powerhouse” and we’ll be waiting in the shadows to see if T-Mobile has anything new for us. After all we already know everything there is to know about the HTC HD2.
It’s pretty clear how T-Mobile will try to sell this beast. The carrier seems interested in convincing us how good at entertaining the HTC HD2. And we won’t say it isn’t but it has other capabilities too! Or is T-Mobile trying to squeeze even more money out of its future and current customers by pushing as much content to the HD2 as possible?
As we told you earlier here on TFTS, the HTC HD2 will be available for $199.99 with a two-year contract. That price has to be confirmed by T-Mo as we have it from a leaked spreadsheet that invaded the web last week, but it still sounds like the right thing to pay for such a smartphone.
So, what do you say, folks? Are you excited to buy the HTC HD2? Or would you rather wait for Windows Phone 7 to hit and get one such handset instead?
The only thing we’d be curious about on March 16 is whether T-Mobile will mention HTC HD2 upgrade to Windows Phone 7 or not. We have had mixed reports concerning the possible upgrade of the HD2 to Microsoft’s latest mobile platform so maybe T-Mobile will shed some light on the whole matter. I am sure that more people would buy the HTC HD2 should they be told there is a way to have Windows Phone 7 installed on it later on!

The trouble with this phone is that it has the dated Windows Mobile 6.x operating system, and can’t be upgraded to Microsoft’s next WM7S platform. Because it can’t be upgraded, I would avoid it.
There are some other HTC models that run the Android operating system that would be much better. Also, an AMOLED screen would be better than the older LCD TFT backlit screen of the HD2.
