Gigabyte Q1000C Netbook Revealed [New Netbook Has Atom N450 Processor, 2GB of RAM, 10-inch Screen, Decent Price]
Gigabyte had a ton of products on display at the CeBIT trade show in Germany last week, and one of them was this new solid Q1000C Netbook computer. Nothing revolutionary, but it features a decent selection of components and a low price. It’ll have a 10-inch screen and an Atom processor.

Gigabyte has gone with the Intel Atom N450 Pine Trail processor, which clocks at 1.66GHz. The screen measures in exactly at 10.1-inches and will support a resolution of 1024×600. Graphics will be provided by Intel’s GMA 3150 integrated graphics chip. They’ve included 2GB DDR2 RAM, which is a really nice touch.
The Q1000C will be sold in two models, one with a 160GB HDD and one with a 250GB HDD. It’ll also be sold with a HSDPA modem for SIM internet connectivity. Those who tried it were very impressed with the keyboard, though it doesn’t seem to be any sort of special netbook keyboard.
As I alluded to, the real beauty here is the low MSRP of $299. A lot of sub-$350 netbooks will cheap out and include only 1GB of RAM, ancient Atom processor or include a 80GB HDD or something, so it’s nice to see Gigabyte include a lot of higer-end netbook features (if there is such a thing as a high-end netbook) and still charge a low price.
With graphics solutions like ION and the Broadcom HD chip, it is dreadful to still see companies including plain integrated graphics, but I suppose they’re trying to save on costs and keep the price down.
As said, the MSRP for this netbook will be $299. No word on a release date, however.
