MSI Wind U160 Netbook Debuts
MSI’s newest netbook creation, the MSI Wind U160, has silently appeared in online stores. It’s a pretty typical netbook from MSI that features a sharp design and a new Pine Trail-generation Atom processor. It’ll also have a 10.1-inch display and will be running Win7.

The U160 will be powered by the (sort of) new Pine Trail generation of Intel Atom processors. They’ve gone with the Atom N450 model, which is optimized for use in netbooks and other portable applications. It’s got a clockspeed of 1.66GHz and 512KB of L2 cache.
It’ll have the typical netbook glossy 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1024 x 600. It comes with 1GB of DDR2 memory and a 250GB HDD. No Broadcom HD chip or NVIDIA ION here, MSI has gone with the plain old GMA 3150 graphics processing.
The U160 will also have a 1.3-megapixel webcam and will come with Windows 7 Starter Edition. It will be sporting a 6-cell battery with MSI promising 15 hours of battery life, which is decent. A survey of all online retailers show the netbook starting at $379 and going up.
While we’re sure the U160 is a technically sound netbook, you can find comparable netbooks with a lower price, so unless you fancy the design of this MSI U160 netbook, you probably could get away with passing on it.
As mentioned, the MSI U160 is starting at $379 and is now shipping from fine retailers like Newegg.
