Mamiya DM40 Medium Format DSLR Announced

Mamiya's 40 MP High-Speed DSLR Priced For Pros

Mamiya has announced a new medium-format DSLR capable of high speed photography with a 40 MP sensor.  The Mamiya DM40 DSLR can capture full 40 MP raw images at the fast rate of 0.8/second.

The new Mamiya DM40 medium-format DSLR provides fast shooting at its full resolution, featuring a professional-grade 44 x 33mm sensor delivering 40 MP.  These images can be captured at a rate of 0.8 frames per second, the fastest available for this class of sensor.  It’s also noteworthy that this is delivered in a relatively compact size, whereas cameras of this grade can get a bit bulky and cumbersome.  These images can be stored on Compact Flash, but the camera can also be tethered to a storage device or computer using a FireWire connection.

Such power and quality won’t come cheap, as the pricing options for this camera range in the low five figures.  The Mamiya DM40 DSLR is available with a lens kit or as the body only, with the former costing $21,990 and the back-only unit running $19,990.  These units are slated to ship “soon”, but doubtful that’ll give you enough time to start saving those pennies.
