LG Cookie Fresh GS290 Gets Official
The LG Cookie Fresh GS290 has been officially unveiled today and in case you’re assuming it’s a hot smartphone we’re talking about here then you need to look elsewhere on TFTS for such a handset. The LG Cookie Fresh GS290 is just a successor of the highly acclaimed LG Cookie, a device that has been sold in over 12 million units since launch.

The GS290 has some nice specs but it’s just a featurephone which will leave you wanting for more. That doesn’t mean it will not meet the needs of lots of customers that only want a handset capable of helping them keep in touch with friends and family. Social networking integration like Facebook and Twitter is present and the phone can also help you shoot off SMS text messages, MMS messages and emails whenever you need it.
Other specs include a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen display, 3.5mm headset jack, 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, Push email and FM radio. Unfortunately the device does not come with 3G support. In order to get that you’ll need to buy the Cookie Plus GS500, also a successor of the famous Cookie phone from LG.
The rather short press release doesn’t say anything about prices although we can expect this 3G-less featurephone to be available for quite a bargain and you might even end up getting it for free in certain markets when signing up for a new contract.
The LG Cookie GS290 will be available in March in Europe but lots of other markets will get it soon after. The phone will be available in ten different colors at launch although we can’t be impressed just by colored cases and a cartoon UI can we, folks?
We’ll be waiting impatiently to see LG’s upcoming smartphones, and I do mean those Windows Phone 7 devices which are rumored to be ready by September.
