Gigabyte Codfish Handset Breaks Cover
Although renowned for their motherboards rather than as a player in the mobile phone market, folks from Gigabyte have taken the wraps off their new Codfish handset. Well, sort of, as we got our hands on some pictures ahead of an official debut. An Android device that hints to an Android future for the company (which is a good call), among other things the new Gigabyte GSmart G1305 Codfish comes with a 3.2-inch display (touchscreen we believe) and has a 5 megapixel camera.

The new Gigabyte Codfish is supposedly “very responsive” and of “good manufacturing quality” — whatever that means to the guys over at PointGPhone. For reasons we can hardly understand, since Android 2.0 and 2.1 are already available, this little guy runs on a custom version of Android 1.6 Donut, and, on top of that, it looks much like a lower end HTC device if you ask us. Don’t you think?
For now there’s no word on pricing or availability, but as soon as we know more about the Gigabyte Codfish specifications we’ll update you guys.
