Active Media Products 1.8-inch Turbo PATA ZIF SSD Now Available

32GB & 64GB SaberTooth ZT Solid State Drives Start Selling on Amazon

Looking for a powerful new solid state drive for you rig, folks from Active Media Products have just announced that their new 1.8-inch Turbo PATA ZIF SSDs are now available as 32GB and 64GB models. Compatible with virtually any computer that has a 40-pin ZIF interface, the new SaberTooth ZT drives allows up to 100MB/sec sequential read speeds, and 85MB/sec write speeds by using DRAM cache technology.

“The SaberTooth ZT removes the performance tradeoffs that have plagued slim 1.8″ ZIF drives for so long. Now you can get a truly fast ZIF drive that still fits in a standard 1.8″ form factor. By incorporating a DRAM cache, we’ve dramatically improved write speeds over other ZIF drives,” stated Active Media Products’ VP of Sales, Jerry Thomson.

Coming with support for PIO mode 4 and UDMA mode 6, SMART command support and the same physical dimensions as industry standard 1.8-inch hard drives, the new 32GB & 64GB SaberTooth ZT drives are supposedly rugged enough to be used in industrial applications, or for standard laptop and netbook usage. And speaking of the latter, we’re being told they’ll consume less power than the HDD counterpart, which means that you’ll be getting more juice from your battery pack.

Both drives are already available on Amazon, selling at $169 for the 32GB model and $299 for the 64GB version.
