Panasonic Lumix DMC-G2 Micro Four Thirds Camera Gets Official
How nice of Panasonic to launch new products these Sunday! Today we’re looking at the Lumix DMC-G2 Micro Four Thirds Camera which is said to be the world’s first interchangeable lens system camera with touch-control movable LCD.

So if you’ve never purchased a Lumix G1 in the first place then you might want to check this new baby out. The main feature here is the touch-control shooting capabilities which are going to help you take a lot better pictures. All you have to do is simply touch the subject on the camera’s 3-inch LCD and you’ll be able to intuitively adjust the auto focus as you see fit.
The touchscreen also serves for taking pictures and viewing them later. If you’re familiar with touchscreen camera phones then you should get used to the DMC-G2’s new interface almost immediately.
But let’s look at all the features of this new Micro Four Thirds Camera:
- 12.1-megapixel Live MOS sensor
- LUMIX G VARIO 14-42mm/F3.5-5.6 ASPH/MEGA O.I.S. lens
- Venus Engine HD II technology for better image/video quality
- 1,280 x 720 HD video recording in AVCHD Lite format
- Dedicated video record button
- Dolby Digital Creator sound recording support with Wind Cut function for noise reduction
- 3-inch touchscreen rotating and tilting LCD
- My Color Mode: Expressive, Retro, Pure, Elegant, Monochrome, Dynamic Art, and Silhouette
- Dust Reduction System
- PHOTOfunSTUDIO 5.0 HD Edition
- YouTube uploader
The Lumix DMC-G2 also comes with an interchangeable lens feature which will let you use any other lens that comply with the Four Thirds standard via the optional mount adaptor DMW-MA1 or DMW-MA2M and DMW-MA3M.
The camera will be available in red, blue and black and we don’t have any prices and availability dates yet. But they will be announced “30 days prior to shipping date” which means that next time you hear us talking about the DMC-G2 it means that in about a month you can have it shipped to your door.
