Motorola Backflip Android Smartphone Now Available from AT&T [Moto Backflip to Cost $99 After Rebates and with New 2-Year Contract; Full Price $349]
We might not have been able to confirm anything about the MacBook Pro pending update today but we do know one thing for sure: AT&T is ready to sell you its first Android device ever, the Motorola Backflip, a smartphone announced ahead of MWC 2010. And we’re happy not to see AT&T spelling its name in capital letters.

The Backflip is a unique Android phone and I am referring mostly to that new backflip mechanism and the Backtrack touch panel placed on the other side of the touchscreen display in order to facilitate faster navigation and scrolling. Do you remember it now?
Well if you’re curious to see it in action you might want to head over to the closest AT&T store and check it out. The carrier will sell it to you for just $99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and with a brand new 2-year contract. Should you decide to pay the full price for it you’ll have to fork out $349 for this Android handset.
Here’s what the Motorola Android will offer you after the AT&T salesperson convinces you to get it:
- 3.1-inch HVGA display with 480 x 320 resolution
- Full QWERTY keyboard with backlit keys
- Quad-band GSM/GPRS
- Tri-band UMTS and HSDPA 7.2Mbps connectivity
- Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi
- 512 NAND memory; 256MB of RAM
- 2GB of memory storage
- microSD support for up to 32GB extra memory storage
- 5-megapixel camera with 4X zoom and video recording
- 1,380 mAh battery
- USB connectivity
- aGPS
- Backtrack touchpad
- Android OS
Not a bad phone which could bring some extra customers to AT&T. Maybe that way AT&T will finally realize that no matter how hot the iPhone is, one operator can’t place all its eggs into one basket. The company definitely has to further explore the Android world and come up with more Android offers for their consumers. Let’s just hope that their 3G network is going to handle them all.
