Samsung has taken the cover off of three new models of notebook computers. These new computers, all in Samsung’s existing R-series of notebooks, will be heading mainly to North American retailer Best Buy’s shelves. The new notebooks will feature a number of impressive specs.

Starting with the Samsung R480, it’ll come with an Intel Core i3 330 processor that runs at 2.1GHz and 3MB in the L3 Cache. It will come standard with 4GB of DDR3 RAM and will have its graphics provided by an Intel GMA 4500MHD chip. It’ll also come with an ample 500GB hard drive and notably, a Blu-Ray drive. The 64-bit of Windows 7 Home Premium will come standard. The screen size is 14-inches.
Next up is the Samsung R580. It will have a slightly larger 15-inch screen and come with a more powerful Intel Core i5 430 processor (2.26GHz clockspeed, 3MB L3 Cache). It’ll be getting a graphics boost, courtesy of an NVIDIA GeForce 310M (with 512MB of VRAM). Like the R480, it will have 4GB of DDR3. It’ll also come with Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit).
The Samsung R780 will be their flagship model in the new offerings. It will feature a big 17-inch screen, and the same Intel Core i5 430 as the R580. It’ll have a lot of the same features as the lesser notebooks, 4GB of DDR3, 500GB HDD, etc. Oddly enough, it’s missing a Blu-Ray drive. A bit odd for the high-end offering, considering the lower-priced ones will have one. It’ll also come with Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit).
All notebooks are out now. The Samsung R480 is selling for $729. The Samsung R580 is selling for $829. The Samsung R780 is selling for $799.
