Tata Motors has revealed one of the most exciting new cars at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, a difficult task given the environment of the world’s most exotic and luxury car releases. The Tata Nano EV Concept is an electric version of Tata Motors’ flagship model, the Tata Nano– currenly the cheapest production car in the world.

The internal combustion version of the Tata Nano is presently the cheapest production car in the world, selling for a converted $2,680 in USD. Its primary market is India, unable to crossover to the US market for concerns about safety and other transportation codes. The Tata Nano sips fuel, using only a 600cc engine that receives 62 miles per gallon of fuel consumed.
The Tata Nano EV concept promises to swap the ICE drivetrain for an all electric version, one that would make this already-efficient brand name even more enviro-friendly. The Tata Nano EV will feature a driving range of 99 miles and tortoise-paced takeoff speeds to 60 km/h in 10 seconds. You wouldn’t drive a Tata Nano EV for looks or performance, however– you’d drive it because the amount you pay for a new model and driving costs for a full year could be less than what some Americans spend to fuel there SUV for that same year.
